This is one of the first paintings that I attempted to make in a photo real style during my matte painting apprenticeship. In the history of visual effects for movies, matte paintings were painted on either glass panels or Masonite boards. As far as surfaces go, I chose to go with Masonite because painting on a glass shower door was impractical. Prior to this, I only painted on canvas, so I was very pleased about the ease of painting on the smoother surface offered by Masonite.

Although matte paintings are supposed to focus on more broad, sweeping impressionistic brush strokes, I sometimes get carried away with the details. Being a first for me, I wanted to make an impression.
